Films to Schools

BDDF offers assembly-style visits, usually to primary schools, Brownies/Cubs groups and similar. These visits help children to learn more about disability and the positive role the people who are affected by disability play in our society.

BDDF has created some impactful awareness films for these sessions, starring local children living with disability with recognisable visuals from around the local area. These videos really help us to bring the key messages to life. You can watch the videos on the BDDF YouTube page.

If you are a school or club/group who wish to book this service please contact office@bddf.org.uk

About Films to Schools

‘Films to Schools’ has been running since 2019, and BDDF have visited several local Primary Schools and 3 Cub Packs. We have reached over 3,000 children mainly at Key Stage 2, and are keen to reach even more of our young community members. We believe that inclusion is the strongest when it is embedded from a young age, and we know that children have a vital role to play in building a more accessible future.

We are delighted that the National Lottery have agreed to fund this programme for the next 5 years, allowing us to relaunch, expand and make these sessions the best they can be.

Reviews of our Films to Schools Programme

"It was useful having an outside agency come in to talk to the children as it supports the messages we say in school but presented in a slightly different way."

Great Binfields Infant School

"Children were engaged throughout, because of the stories that were on offer to them."

"The children could understand what it was like to be different."

Hatch Warren Junior School

"Fits with our ethos of inclusive, particularly as we have children with both physical disabilities and disabilities which are less visible."

Great Binfields Infant School

"I enjoyed the videos of children with a wide range of disabilities."

"Very well organised, everything was ready within five minutes of entering the room."

Hatch Warren Junior School

"The resources were one of the reasons I wanted the sessions to take place in school - they were of high quality."

North Waltham School

"I think you were absolutely the best placed people to respond to the children's answers. As a teacher, you are mindful about not saying the wrong thing, so having you guys as a lead was useful."
